Koa dining table

Koa dining tables are something we build here at Satoshi Yamauchi Woodworks. We just received some amazing photos of our live edge koa dining table from photographer Linny Morris.

Koa dining table made from a single piece slab

This dining table was made from a very large koa slab from the big island. The original slab measured over 9 feet long and nearly 4 feet wide. The slab was cut to 90” long x 44” long (narrowest 33”). It was an extremely rare koa slab. We are not sure if we will come across a live edge koa slab like it again.

Koa dining table, joinery work

The base was made from koa lumber to match the slab top. This live edge koa dining table is truly one of a kind and we are very glad to be given the opportunity of build it.

Here at Satoshi Yamauchi Woodworks, we have been making furniture for 18 years. Coffee table is one type of furniture we custom build, besides dining tables, beds and tv stands/media consoles. This is a large koa slab table top we made for a customer who already had a koa table base. This koa slab was purchased from the Big Island and is a very rare find. It is a sister slab of another table we built a few months ago. Some interesting feather crotch grain going on, on one end of the koa slab.

This exquisite Hawaiian koa slab table is made from 100% Big Island koa wood. The widest part of the table top measures 44″, narrowing down to 33″ on the opposite end. This wide koa slab is an extremely rare find. Our client and our team flew into Big Island to look for and select the slab.
