Round table with joinery work

Here is our latest round dining table. It showcases traditional wood joinery. When it comes to joinery work, precision is extremely important. Satoshi carefully cuts the wooden leg parts and the mortise and tenons and slowly adjust the fit to achieve the not too tight, not too loose fit.

The dining table was built using Hawaiian monkeypod wood.

Measures 44” diameter and 28” tall.

Here are some work in progress photos. Satoshi starts with wood selection. His choice is based on aesthetics and wood properties. Wood selection affects the quality of the finished product so he is careful in choosing the right boards.

Here are some photos of the joinery work. Half lap joinery was used for the base and top. The one with the round holes is the top mount where it gets attached directly to the underside of the table top.

Four table legs are attached using mortise and tenon joinery. You can see the backside of the joinery on the right photo. This is a very strong joinery.

Here’s the final table at our customer’s home!
